Flying High for New Project

I was so excited about my new project, Filling in the Blanks, that I chartered a helicopter to take more aerial photos. This photo was taken by the pilot when we got back.

Artist Talk at Margolis Gallery

Stepping into Julie Brook Alexander’s studio, I realized that nearly everything has been altered from its original form. The drapes are hand painted, the sofa covered in collage and quilts. And on the walls and shelves are pieces of Julie’s personal history—paintings she’s made from her grandmother’s treasures, art books, theory books, dictionaries, and lots of collections—a grouping of fossils, rocks, kaleidoscopes, and a humorous quote pulled from her grandfather’s desk.

During a morning visit to Julie’s studio, she revealed how her most recent body of work, Parables, Perspectives and Epiphanies was right there in front of her, a natural next step. (spot | SPRING 2014 with Bevin Bering Dubrowski)

Director’s Choice Award – Eternity by Julie Brook Alexander

Eternity was juried into the exhibition entitled Natural Wonders juried by Susan Spiritus, at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado. The image received the Director’s Choice Award.

The Houston Center for Photography Print Auction Show

The Houston Center for Photography Print Auction Show opened tonight. It features a piece from my new body of work. Juxtaposition no19 will be on display until the Auction on February 12.
